New Years Dance 2012
We had a great New Year celebration at the VFW last night! The girls had done so much decorating. Balloons, ribbons, candy, etc, were everywhere. They took a beach ball, layered it with gold foil, pasted "Happy New Year 2012" on it, and lowered it at 11:00. (We were going to stay till 12:00, but a lot of the folks said they would need to leave around 11:00 to get the kids home, so we closed out at 11:00 like always.) Then, right after the countdown, Caleb pulled the string and let several hundred balloons fall to the floor that had been held up at the ceiling with plastic. The kids went crazy stomping all the balloons - it sounded like fireworks going off in the place. It was just a lot of fun! And thankfully, we had a great crowd - about 40 adults, and around 20 kids - it was just a wonderful feeling! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and a great New Year weekend!

Caleb and Amanda's Wedding
June 11, 2011 was the setting for the beautiful wedding of Caleb and Amanda Hudson. It was an outdoor private ceremony with family only, and followed with a reception of so many of our wonderful friends. Although it was a hot afternoon, it was quite an awesome event. There should be pictures posted very soon on the "Photos" page of our website.

The Wheeler Brothers
The "Wheeler Brothers" from Spartanburg, South Carolina made a special appearance at the Hickory Grove VFW on Saturday, February 12th. These two brothers (Joe and Gene Wheeler) have been performing together for nearly forty years, and you can tell by the richness and blend of their voices. We had a great time backing them on a few of the great 'Classic Country' Standards!

Country Earl
"Country Earl" Baughman made a special appearance Saturday night at the Hickory Grove VFW. We were so excited to have him there with us! He is such a natural born entertainer - everybody just loves him! For those of you who may not be familiar with him, he has had a Classic Country Radio program on the air for quite a few years at various radio stations across the Carolinas - the most popular being WAGI 105.3 FM in Gaffney, South Carolina. He is now being aired on WOLT 103.3 FM on Sunday nights 7:00 - 11:00PM. And for those of you that may not be able to catch the program on the radio (as this station is based in Greenville, South Carolina), there is live streaming of the program at www.WOLT-FM.com. Also, Country Earl has his own website: please be sure to check it out also at www.countryearl.com.

Valentine's Dance
As most of you know, the Valentine Dance was postponed a week due to the snow we had on the 13th. Well, we had a great time that evening. It was very similar to last year with the exception of some extra decorations the girls put up, as well as, special music. Songs that were played during the Prelude (before our show) included: Chapel of Love, Stand By Me, My Girl, Unchained Melody, and more. Songs that were played during the Dance Set / Intermission included: Valentine, Let It Be Me, Feels So Right, and more. It just seemed like everyone was really having a great time - we sure were!

Valentine's Dance
We had a great time on Valentine's Day! Not only did we do our regular show (along with some special songs), we did a lot of decorating as well. There was a big "Happy Valentine's" sign posted at the door along with streamers on the hand-rails. Two Valentine balloons were just inside the door. A bouquet of roses was on the front counter. Heart-shaped placemats were on all of the tables, along with a rose and Valentine candy. One additional "Happy Valentine's" sign was placed at the snack bar, along with Valentine candy. Last of all, a heart-shaped rose garland was placed at the front of the stage. So everywhere you looked, there was something to remind you of that special someone. It seemed to go over really well with the crowd. We just had a great time that evening!

Steel Guitar Addition To The Band
Bill just got a new professional Pedal Steel Guitar today. He used to play one years ago, but has not played one since until he got a student model a few months ago - so he's been practicing on it. This is a great addition to the band - it really adds alot to the sound.

Ellenboro Fiddler’s & Bluegrass Convention
We decided at that the last moment to go back to Ellenboro (after 3 years missing) and compete in the band competition this year. Anyway, we didn't place as a band this time, but Martha got a real boost by placing 3rd in the Vocal entrys. This was her first time to place in a competition. And also, Caleb placed 4th in the Mandolin entrys. The songs we played were Momma's Homemade Biscuits, Just Someone I Used to Know, and The Bluegrass Express. We really had a good time and it was great seeing a lot of folks we hadn't seen in a quite a while.

10th Anniversary & New CD Release
January 1, 2007 commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Hudson Family Band. We began playing together publicly on this day in 1997 at Meadow Haven Rehab & Specialty Care Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina. We've come a long way since then, and really have a lot to be thankful for - particularly those who have helped to bring us to the point we are at now. We are also pleased to announce that our newest CD is now available: "The Hudson Family Live At Country Earl's". It is a compilation of songs we recorded live at "Country Earl's Dinner Theater" in Simpsonville, SC on August 19, 2006. You can see the cover photo and the list of the songs on the "Store" page. We will have the CD's available for purchase at our upcoming shows. Thank You! The Hudson Family.

Seth & Kimberly's Wedding
The wedding of Seth and Kimberly Hudson was beautiful. It was held at Sherwood Baptist Church in Lancaster, South Carolina on June 10th, 2006 at 2:00PM. Seth had three surprises planned for Kimberly. First of all, he had written a poem shortly after their engagement, and read it to Kimberly during the ceremony, and then followed it with a song which he sang to her: "You Had Me From Hello" by Kenny Chesney. Seth recalls, "It was either our first or second date, Kimberly and I were sitting on the front porch of Cracker Barrel after a delicious meal, and this beautiful little classic convertible automobile (a Nash) pulled into the parking lot. We were not even thinking about marriage at that time, but Kimberly said, 'If I ever get married, I would love to ride away from the church in the back of that car!'" "I never forgot that!" Seth exclaims. "We continued seeing that car throughout the winter whenever we'd go eat at Cracker Barrel, and after our engagement, we'd joke saying, 'There's the car we're getting married in.'" That was the third surprise. Seth and Kimberly continue to say, "God has truly blessed our relationship and marriage, which only confirms the saying, 'Good things come to those who wait', and that He is still answering prayers! We appreciate all the gifts, thoughts, prayers, and support from all our friends! We love y'all and hope to see you soon!" Pictures of the wedding can be seen on the "Photos" page.
